FAQ

Willow Cakes Dessert trio foodies at Treadwells in Niagara on the LakePhoto of the Niagara Culinary Tours team

Do I have to buy tickets in advance?

Yes, tickets are required 24 hours in advance so we can provide accurate numbers to our restaurant partners.

Will the tour be cancelled if it rains?

Tours are held rain or shine.  Please dress accordingly for the weather conditions bringing an umbrella, rain jacket or warm layers.  This is Canada and we might have snow and sun showers all in the same tour!

Is the ticket refundable if I am unable to attend?

Sorry, tickets are non refundable and tours cannot be rescheduled less than 24 hours before the tour. Tours can sell out quickly and we reserve a spot especially for you.

Do we just walk around and taste food?

Most definitely not!  We spend time learning about the history of the area, the importance of the farm to table movement and we throw in a little knowledge about Niagara wines.  All that and we get to taste food and meet really nice people.

What does the ticket price include?

The ticket price includes 4-5 stops with food tastings, a professionally guided historical and cultural walking tour, perhaps a chance meeting of local culinary celebs and of course the opportunity to have an entirely enjoyable time!

How much walking is involved?

In Niagara on the Lake and St Catharines, each route is designed to be a loop of 3.5-4 km of flat, easy walking.   We will end our tours within a block of where we started.  Please wear comfortable footwear. Note our Mornings Just Got Better Tour is 1.5 - 2 km flat, easy walk.

Niagara Falls route is approximately 3.5 km and there is a hill which we travel both ways.  This tour ends approximately a 10 minute walk from the original start to allow you to continue to explore the area.  Your guide is happy to assist with directions.

Will I need to bring money?

You may wish to bring money to purchase alcoholic beverages, tip your tour guide or shop at the end of your tour.

Is photography permitted during the tours?

Well it’s hard to discourage foodies from Instagramming or Facebooking such beautiful food!  Snap away but don’t forget to Tweet to tell your friends what a great time you’re having!

Do you accommodate food allergies?

We do our best to accommodate most food allegies.  Please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements with the chefs. The restaurants plan their menus ahead so please do let us know as soon as possible.  Last minute requests may not be possible.

Are there vegetarian items?

Please let us know in advance and we can make arrangements for vegetarian options. Vegan option is only available on our St Catharines tour.

How much food is served?

Most will find the food to be a satisfying lunch.  Think of it as a walking graze. Our morning tour is a sweet and savoury treat tour and serves light fare.

Can I bring my dog, cat or hamster?

Due to public health regulations animals are not permitted in restaurants, however service animals are welcome.

Will there be restrooms available?

Yes, a number of our stops include bathroom facilities.

I’m a local, is this tour just for tourists?

Absolutely not! Locals will have a chance to explore Niagara in a new exciting way! You will find hidden gems and discover new places to eat.

Will there be wine or beer tasting?

We do not include wine or beer tastings, however there will be an opportunity to purchase a glass or sometimes even a tasting flight of local Niagara VQA wine or craft beer.

Are we able to get on a waiting list if the tour is sold out?

While there is no official waitlist please feel free to email us at info@niagaraculinarytours.com  If a tour is sold out in advance there is a chance that an additional tour will be added.

Can I book for a corporate retreat or birthday party?

Perhaps a bachelorette with a food tour that ends at a local spa, or a group of friends looking for an interesting afternoon.  We customize our private tours for each individual group and their interests.
